Congratulations to Rachael Wang

Rachael Wang has been accepted to Harvard University for post graduate Doctoral studies. She had previously completed her Bachelor’s degree at Drexel University. She is the second person from our school to be admitted to Harvard recently. Many of YMAS’s students excel in school as well as post graduate work. Congratulations again Rachael!

YMAS Demonstration at the Montgomeryville Mall

On January 25th members of the YMAS Demo team performed at the Montgomeryville Mall. The demonstration included not only the demonstration team led by Master Nathan Hong, but a few blue and green belts performing in front of a crowd for the first time. Master Ron Lejman and Grand Master Yang performed patterns as well. Events like this are very good publicity for our school, but more importantly allow children to gain confidence in themselves and their martial arts’ skills.

Get To Know: The Reason We Practice Patterns (Hyung)

The martial artist seeks to develop and maintain balance, equilibrium, coordination, speed, agility, flexibility, power, strength, endurance and breath control. Pattern training combines all of these factors.

Patterns prepare the martial artist’s body for the demands it may face. A softer style of martial arts helps develop flexibility and twisting through patterns, while a hard style helps develop power and a solid stance.

On January 24th Sophia Yeh and her father Ernest both passed their Green Belt promotion test. Yang’s Martial Arts School has many siblings as well as parent/children family members who train together. Training in martial arts together as a family is very rewarding and can help strengthen the family bond. Congratulations Sophia and Ernest on your promotions.

Congratulations again to Prednesh Thoppay for passing his First Dan Black Belt Test:
